Dublin poets get bursaries to assist develop their careers

Recently, Verse Ireland introduced the 24 recipients of the Poetry Community Bursary plan, which marks the legacy of the all-island verse campaign, as well as continues the excitement created during the nine-day event in September, composes Rachel Cunningham.

Seven poets from Dublin will be awarded bursaries, including Diarmuid Cawley, Damien Donnelly, Deirdre Dunne, Dave Lordan & & Karl Parkinson in a joint award, Rafael Mendes as well as Emmet O’Brien.

Poetry Ireland put a call out during October for submissions from poets throughout the island of Ireland, with 3 classifications for new poets, experienced poets and also talked word). Each bursary deserved EUR300-500, depending on the level of assistance requested by the candidate.

The bursaries are created to be utilized by the recipients for possibilities to create their poetry by taking a creating course, participating in a writing residency, paying for mentoring or important assessment, paying a filmmaker to create a movie of verse job or by merely taking time off job to commit to composing.
